Head's welcome

The Hampshire School Chelsea children are inquisitive with unique abilities, interests and aspirations.

‘Aim high’ is the motto of our school and it is one which all members of the school community strive towards.

We are proud of our long history – the school was founded in 1928 – and offers a holistic education from 3-11 in a co-educational setting. Our classic red brick building with a beautiful playground and outside space is a gem within bustling Chelsea. Tucked just off of the King’s Road we are perfectly placed to benefit from a central location and whilst also a stone’s throw from the green space of Battersea Park.

We provide the foundations for each child’s love of learning to flourish within a nurturing and caring ethos. We are a reflective learning community and value the quality of our relationships with our parents and whole school community.

With a Growth Mindset approach, and five core values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Community and Excellence, we nurture personal fulfilment, academic progress and excellence throughout every stage of a child’s time with us.

I hope that our website conveys what makes The Hampshire School Chelsea so special, however, there is no better way to understand what we offer than by visiting us. I look forward to welcoming you.

About the school

Aiming high is a fundamental element of the broad and rigorous academic curriculum at The Hampshire School Chelsea which is further strengthened by an extensive extra-curricular clubs programme. We pride ourselves on supporting the children’s development across the breadth of curriculum subjects for academic, sporting, artistic and creative talents to be advanced.

Our school is located in an iconic building in Chelsea where we have a learning environment that inspires children to lead successful lives. The joy of learning and the fun of childhood exploration start in our Early Years setting, where a positive, exploratory and confident attitude to effective learning is nurtured. Preparation for the finest local day and boarding senior schools at 11+ and 13+ is extensive and we have an enviable record of successful transition to selective senior schools.
