Farlington Summer School offers a rich and immersive educational experience that blends English tuition with learning other subjects in English, cultural excursions, and a wide range of activities, including sports for active learning. Our Summer School is designed to prepare international students for further study in the UK and overseas, while also providing an authentic taste of British boarding life. Attending a course at Farlington Summer School is an excellent way for students to experience a short-term British boarding education and, for those interested, prepare for future study at Farlington School.

Students at Farlington study a minimum of three hours of English per day, tailored to their age and language level, alongside lessons with specialist teachers in technology, computer science, and entrepreneurship. This combination ensures that students develop both language skills and subject knowledge in a fully immersive English environment.

This integrated approach ensures that students not only improve their English but also gain practical skills, cultural knowledge, and academic confidence in a supportive and engaging environment.

Accommodation is provided within our Mansion House building. Rooms are between two and four beds, and bathrooms are shared. Boys’ accommodation is separate from girls although shared communal facilities, including common room and kitchen are available for boarders to use at night.

Wi-fi is available within the boarding House, and boarders are able to connect to make video calls home. All phones, tablets and laptops are taken in before bedtime and returned in the morning, in order that children can have a good night’s sleep.

Meals are served in our main dining room, which include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks will also be provided within the boarding House at evenings and weekends.

Bellevue Summer Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we realise that it is often a difficult time for children and parents alike to be far from each other. Our comprehensive Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and

extensive procedures ensure that we keep children safe and families comfortable. The points below are only some highlights from our safeguarding and welfare measures.

All our staff members participate in safeguarding training specifically for our summer school. They are supported by a highly trained and experienced safeguarding team. Students are looked after by house parents and dedicated welfare support staff, and they can also always approach any of our friendly staff members if they need help.

We follow safer recruitment processes to ensure that all staff members that work with us are suitable for working with children; this includes conducting appropriate background checks and following up on references for everyone. We also require external suppliers (eg. transfer providers) to do the same.

Multi-sport activities will be offered each day, usually in the afternoon. The opportunity to join with UK students will also be an option. Sports include volleyball, football, cricket, rounders, tennis, badminton, and basketball.

Farlington also has an extensive range of facilities, including Music practice rooms, a drama studio, a dance studio, sports hall, and outdoor sports pitches. 

Cookery classes, arts and crafts, team building, dance and a range of outdoor activities are also offered by the school.

At Farlington Summer School, we want every student to experience the richness and variety of the UK. Each week includes a midweek trip to London, complete with a cultural activity that allows students to practise their English in real-world contexts while discovering elements of British history and culture. Students staying for two weeks can enjoy additional weekend excursions that further enhance their experience—for example, a seaside day in Brighton or a fascinating journey by train to Portsmouth’s historic dockyard. During the week, pupils will also have the chance to explore Horsham, our charming and historic local town.

Evenings at Farlington Summer School are lively, active, and designed to help students unwind, socialise, and explore new interests. A full programme of multi-sport sessions is offered each night after supper, giving boarders the chance to enjoy a variety of activities in a relaxed, friendly environment. Music practice rooms remain open for musicians, while the boarding house kitchen and communal areas provide comfortable spaces for students to socialise. Creative, active, and team-based sessions are also available throughout the week, ensuring something for everyone. Once a week, students can enjoy an off-site activity such as bowling or golf for an added element of fun.
