There are no entry requirements for students to undertake the course content, although learners who have previously achieved at Level 2 or have comparable experience may be better prepared to achieve this qualification. Students should have a level of English proficiency at an independent level (at either a B1 or B2 – B2 is recommended) to be confident of passing the assessments, and to have confidence to be able to gain the qualification. 

Our Residentials are focused on preparing students for further study in the UK and overseas. Attending one of our residentials at Farlington is an excellent way to prepare should you wish to subsequently apply for a place at Farlington School (for which entry requirements are higher), or other College or University. They also provide a great opportunity to experience a short-term British Boarding education and cultural trips.

Each Residential course will include an elective activity session per day. At the start of each week, Residential students will select an activity for each day from the a list or activities, which may include any of the following examples:

• Art – Enjoy drawing and painting with expert tuition in our beautiful art studio.
• Badminton – Daily badminton sessions offered in our sports hall.
• Basketball – Daily basketball sessions offered in our sports hall.
• Cookery – Learn to cook new dishes in our cookery room, and enjoy eating what you make!
• Football – Enjoy a game of football on our Astro pitch.
• Gardening – Fancy some mindful gardening? Learn some horticulture with us.
• Golf – Visit Slinfold Golf & Country Club for expert tuition (additional cost).
• Orienteering – Explore the local area and develop your map-reading skills.
• Tennis – Enjoy some summer tennis on our hard courts.
• Gym – Enjoy a supervised session in our own fitness suite.

Accommodation is provided within our Mansion House building. Rooms are between two and four beds, and bathrooms are shared. Boys’ accommodation is separate from girls although shared communal facilities, including common room and kitchen are available for boarders to use at night.

Wi-fi is available within the boarding House, and boarders are able to connect to make video calls home. All phones, tablets and laptops are taken in before bedtime and returned in the morning, in order that children can have a good night’s sleep.

Meals are served in our main dining room, which include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks will also be provided within the boarding House at evenings and weekends.

Packed lunches for trips are also included – except for London trip and Portsmouth trip where students are required to purchase their own meal as part of free time

Bellevue Summer Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we realise that it is often a difficult time for children and parents alike to be far from each other. Our comprehensive Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and extensive procedures ensure that we keep children safe and families comfortable. The points below are only some highlights from our safeguarding and welfare measures.

All our staff members participate in safeguarding training specifically for our summer school. They are supported by a highly trained and experienced safeguarding team. Pupils are looked after by house parents and dedicated welfare support staff, and they can also always approach any of our friendly staff members if they need help.

We follow safer recruitment processes to ensure that all staff members that work with us are suitable for working with children; this includes conducting appropriate background checks and following up on references for everyone. We also require external suppliers (eg. transfer providers) to do the same.

Multi-sport activities will be offered each day, usually in the afternoon. The opportunity to join with UK students will also be an option. Sports include volleyball, football, cricket, rounders, tennis, badminton, and basketball.

Farlington also has an extensive range of facilities, including Music practice rooms, a drama studio, a dance studio, sports hall, and outdoor sports pitches. 

Cookery classes, arts and crafts, team building, dance and a range of outdoor activities are also offered by the school.

During a stay at Farlington Residentials, we want students to experience different parts of the UK, which may also form a part of your research proposal. We run a trip to London mid-week, with a cultural activity included. 

Our weekend trips enhance students’ experience of the UK – examples include a day trip to Brighton on the coast, and a trip to Portsmouth historic dockyard on the train.

During the week, a trip to Horsham (our local town) can also be expected.

Evening Activities

Evenings at Farlington Summer School are relaxed and social, offering students a chance to unwind and try new interests. A varied programme runs each night after supper, including sports, creative activities, and social time, with a weekly off-site activity for extra fun.
