Farlington Summer School

Farlington Summer School

Farlington Summer School provides a traditional British Boarding School experience with a modern curriculum for international students aged 12 to 16 looking for a short-term English language immersion and cultural experience in the UK. Our language courses include specialist workshops and teaching in design technology, computer science and entrepreneurism. Pupils will have the opportunity to share some social and sporting activities with students attending Farlington School.

Attending Farlington Summer School might be a stepping stone towards seeking a permanent place at Farlington School as a full-time student; a way of improving your language skills and qualifications; or simply having the experience of studying at one of the UK’s leading boarding schools.

Farlington School enjoys a strong reputation for its academic excellence and welcoming community. Farlington students are happy, fulfilled young people, fully engaged in the life of the school community, aspirational and committed to their studies. We are proud of the pastoral care we provide for our students, and we believe happy children who feel safe succeed in their learning and personal development. The school is set in 35 acres of beautiful parkland, and is located within 20 minutes of Gatwick airport.

The Summer School at Farlington seeks to provide a broad curriculum experience (representative of what our normal school offers) and a range of activities and trips which are specifically aimed at supporting students wishing to study in the UK, from Year 7 to Year 13 (12-18 years), or wishing to have a taster experience. Having attended Farlington Summer School, the experience may enable a fast-track entry  in seeking a permanent place at Farlington as a full-time boarder.

Wi-fi is available within the boarding House, and boarders are able to connect to make video calls home. All phones, tablets and laptops are taken in before bedtime and returned in the morning, in order that children can have a good night’s sleep.

Meals are served in our main dining room, which include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks will also be provided within the boarding House at evenings and weekends.

Safeguarding and welfare

Bellevue Summer Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we realise that it is often a difficult time for children and parents alike to be far from each other. Our comprehensive Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and extensive procedures ensure that we keep children safe and families comfortable. The points below are only some highlights from our safeguarding and welfare measures.

Trained and Approachable staff

All our staff members participate in safeguarding training specifically for our summer school. They are supported by a highly trained and experienced safeguarding team. Pupils are looked after by house parents and dedicated welfare support staff, and they can also always approach any of our friendly staff members if they need help.

We follow safer recruitment processes to ensure that all staff members that work with us are suitable for working with children; this includes conducting appropriate background checks and following up on references for everyone. We also require external suppliers (eg. transfer providers) to do the same.

Additional Activities

Multi-sport activities will be offered each day, usually in the afternoon. The opportunity to join with UK students will also be an option. Sports include volleyball, football, cricket, rounders, tennis, badminton, and basketball.

Farlington also has an extensive range of facilities, including Music practice rooms, a drama studio, a dance studio, sports hall, and outdoor sports pitches.

Cookery classes, arts and crafts, team building, dance and a range of outdoor activities are also offered by the school.
