Brabyns Preparatory School appoints new headteacher

Brabyns Preparatory School, a Bellevue Education school based in Marple, has announced its new headteacher Lindsay McKenna, who will join the school in September 2021.

Lindsay will succeed current headteacher Lee Sanders, who has been teaching at Brabyns since 1998. Lee, who took on his headship at the school in 2004, leaves the school with excellent foundations in place for its new leader, having recently ably steered the school through the challenges of the coronavirus disruption.

Lindsay is currently Acting Head at nearby Altrincham Preparatory School for Boys, where she has taught since 2008, bringing extensive independent school leadership experience from the local area to her new role at Brabyns. 

Lindsay was educated at University of the West of Scotland (formerly the University of Paisley), where she achieved a first-class teaching degree. Previously, she was trained and taught in Scotland, where she was promoted to the position of a Principal Teacher and Curriculum for Excellence Officer for West Lothian. 

In her spare time, Lindsay has enjoyed a successful curling career, playing throughout her school years and ascending to international level.

Lindsay adds: ‘I am delighted and honoured to be taking over the leadership of Brabyns Preparatory School. I hold a strong belief in the power of education to change children’s lives and the right of every child to receive an excellent education. I am dedicated to building opportunities for pupils to achieve their highest academic standards, ensuring that they are recognised as individuals and that their unique personality, talents and interests are nurtured and developed to the full.’

Lindsay will be visiting the school throughout the summer term, getting to know the school community in preparation for the start of her headship.
