The prestigious Swiss International School of Qatar (SISQ) officially opened its doors on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Set to transform the education landscape in Doha, SISQ is a new international multi-lingual school for students from the age of 3 to 19 situated in the Al Luqta area, at the center of Doha.

A partnership between the State of Qatar and Bellevue Education, SISQ boasts state-of-the-art brand new facilities and will offer a high quality multi-lingual education and wide range of extra-curricular activities to Qatari and international families living in Doha. Whilst most lessons will be delivered in English, as a Swiss international school, Swiss culture and the French language form important parts of the overall curriculum. Bellevue Education’s other schools include a highly sought after girls’ school in Switzerland, and a number of private schools in the UK.

“I am honoured to be establishing such an important school in the centre of Doha,” said Mark Malley, CEO of Bellevue Education, who has been personally involved in setting up the school. “Doha is an important and influential city, and I am incredibly proud to be creating a school that will meet the aspirations of those living here. We will be providing a strong curriculum, great teaching and personal care that ensures that each child flourishes and succeeds.”

It was a much anticipated opening of the Early Years Programme at SISQ for children aged 3 to 5 on January 4, with older children up to 14 due to join in September 2017. The parents and children were welcomed at the entrance by the school’s dedicated leadership team and guided into their classrooms where they had the opportunity to meet with the class teachers. This was followed by a talk in the main hall by the Interim Principal, Mr John Allcott, and a tour of the impressive state-of-the-art facilities of the school.

“We are extremely proud of the success of the soft launch phase of SISQ, and the fact that we are opening the school with all three of our younger year classes,” Mr John Allcott, Interim Principal of SISQ, said. “This is a testament to the hard work of the staff, faculty and leadership team leading up to this opening and we are looking forward to maintaining this momentum throughout the year, for the next academic year and beyond.”

The school has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and established under the leadership of the Attorney General His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al-Marri, who was present for the opening day.

“The Swiss International School of Qatar is an important milestone in the development of this great country,” said Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al-Marri. “Education is one of our key development goals. This flagship school will ensure that families in Doha know that their children are receiving the very best education available.”
