Weston Green School rated “Excellent” in ISI Inspection 2022

Weston Green School in Thames Ditton, Surrey, has been awarded ‘Excellent’ in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) for the academic achievement and personal development of its pupils, reinforcing its objectives to celebrate childhood and give pupils a breadth of opportunity to achieve individual success.

The school aims to provide opportunities for each child to reach their academic potential within an environment where they feel valued, fulfilled, confident and emotionally secure and since the school’s last inspection in 2017, there have been significant changes to the management structure and educational provision. According to the report, pupils have “outstanding levels of self-confidence” and the “principles and values are actively promoted which facilitate the personal development of pupils”.

The Headteacher, Sarah Evans said, “I am thrilled that the Inspectors have given such high praise to every aspect of school life and have acknowledged the excellent academic achievements, as well as the incredible personal developments our children achieve throughout their time at Weston Green School”

The Inspectors described pupils as having “a very strong moral compass from the earliest age” and a “inculcating high expectations and standards of behaviour”. They were impressed with pupils’ achievements and “notable successes in a wide range of national and regional sporting, cultural and aesthetic endeavours”. Furthermore, inspectors found that pupils “strong progress from their starting points in English, mathematics and spelling, with progress in reading ability being particularly excellent” and that the school is hugely “successful in its aim of providing pupils with opportunities to achieve their academic potential”.  The senior leadership team and teaching staff have been praised for successfully embedding imaginative and effective learning across the school through skilled use of resources and teaching that exhibits both rigour and pace.

Mrs Evans said: “Weston Green is a magical place where we instil a love of learning through enriching experiences and an ambitious,  academic curriculum, preparing children well for a broad range of future schools at 11+. Through an imaginative, diverse and challenging thematic curriculum we enable every child to fulfil their potential as collaborative and adventurous learners and  make the most out of school life.Indeed, the Inspectors noted that “pupils work with evident enthusiasm and relish their learning” whilst were also impressed with the extended curricular offer where “opportunities abound for pupils to experience excellence in achievement.”
